Located in Sha Tin, The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is one of the most famous museums in Hong Kong. The building was designed in the traditional Si He Yuan style by the Hong Kong Architectural Services Department.

Under the management of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, it has been organized to provide comprehensive exhibitions of Hong Kong history, art, and culture.
 

Covering 32,000 square meters, the museum has now assembled over 20,000 items. These fall into  two major categories / collections; history and art.

The history collection contains Local History , Natural History , Performing Art relics, Folk Art and Popular Culture artifacts (Toys & Comics); while art collection can be divided into three major areas such as Contemporary Art, Design, and Chinese Fine Art (Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy and Chinese Antiquities).

Chinese paintings and calligraphy works by the famous artist Zhao Shao’ang as well as furniture and appliances from his studio. For opera, the museum now houses an array of artifacts including costumes, props, scripts, musical instruments, photos, special issues, records and a variety of documentary materials.

 

 Besides exhibitions, the museum also provides; a multipurpose and fully equipped theatre, education studios, and seminar rooms for hosting academic purpose activities including lectures, seminars, courses, and workshops as well as Cantonese opera, musical performances, lectures, ceremonies and multimedia presentations. For the visitors’ convenience, the museum has café and tea house that serve drinks, snacks, and light meals while souvenir items are also available at museum gift shop.

 Mon, Wed – Sat: 10am – 6pm;
Sun and public holidays: 10am – 7pm;
Christmas Eve and Chinese New Year’s Eve: 10am – 5pm.
Closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays) and the first two days of the Lunar New Year.
Ticket prices are:
• HK$10 for adult.
• HK$5 for full-time students, people with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 or above
Children under 4 will be admitted free of charge.
