Hong Kong International Arts Carnival 2009

The International Arts Carnival (IAC) offers the visitors one of the most fascinating and joyful activities during summer in Hong Kong. Being held by Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Hong Kong International Arts Carnival is biased towards kids and families but open to everyone. Participants will be exposed to a variety of arts through various entertaining cultural programmes and interactive activities including the performances of music, dance, drama, puppetry, mime, magic, acrobatics and theatrical arts.

Program catering to different group of audiences have been divided for presentation in series since 2003, including, “PaGAGnini” series for children age 3 and above, “Boxy George” series for children age 5 and above.

Kicking off the carnival will be Genghis Khan by Inner Mongolia Acrobatic Troupe of China, the spectacular performance that shows the successful combination of stage techniques with Mongolian ethnical abilities and acrobatic stunts.

These include bowl kicking, lamp rolling, lasso and bench balancing, showcasing the legendary hero story, Genghis Khan. Other programs include “Clar de llunes” (Moonlight) by Pep Bou (Spain), “B-Boyz & Ballerina” by Gorilla Crew (South Korea)

Apart from the various performances, there will be an array of participatory activities for the whole family to participate and be inspired by including exhibitions, workshops, guided tours of cultural venues, school and outreach touring program. The Carnival also serves as a publicity platform for children and family activities organized by Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) museums and libraries.

From 3 July to 9 August 2009, major venues across the city will be covered with 400 performing and visual arts of Hong Kong’s six-week arts carnival. Ticketing: UBRTIX (+852 2734 9009)  Half price tickets for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. A maximum of 20% discount for group booking and package booking.
