Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong Book Fair was originally held to help instill a reading culture in Hong Kong. Focusing on promoting intellectual development, life-long learning, and self-improvement as major factors of social integration, the book fair reflects the unified efforts of the Ministry of Education, Development Boards, and Private Business Sector.

The Hong Kong Book Fair has proved to be highly popular and attracts hundreds of thousands visitors every year. The display at the fair includes Books, Periodicals and Journals, News Papers & other Publications from Educational Institutions & Coaching Classes, Teaching Aids & Educational Materials, Stationary, Library & other Services, Govt. Organizations, Religious Books, Children’s and Teen’s Books, Multimedia: eBooks, Online Publishing, Audio-Visual Learning Aids, Educational Software.

Other highlights of the event are seminars including “Introspection of reading” by Nan Fang-shuo, culture critic, “Why is exploring the New Frontier of writing necessary” by ZhangYi-he, Chinese literary author, “The survival of author and literature” by Su Tong, Author of Raise the Red Lantern, “Globalism in a complex city” by Chan Koon-chung, founder of City Magazine.

The Hong Kong Book Fair 2009 will be held on 22 – 28 July 2009 from around 10 am to 10 pm at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Ticket prices are:
• HK$25 for adult,
• HK$10 for child 1.22 m. tall or primary school students.
• HK$10 ticket morning admission before 1pm.
Children under 3 and senior aged over 65 will be admitted free of charge.
